Nottingham Goose Fair has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the city’s council has announced.
Planned to run between 30 September and 4 October, the event’s cancellation follows that of Hull Fair announced earlier this year.
Nottingham City Council member Dave Trimble said: “The annual Goose Fair is Nottingham’s iconic event and making a decision to cancel this year due to coronavirus is something that the council does not take lightly.
“We know how well-loved the event is and what a boost it would have been for morale in the city.
“Unfortunately, due to its scale and popularity, in the end this was not possible.”
Travelling fairs and theme parks are allowed to open under current government guidance applying to England, but with social distancing measures and risk assessment required.
Organisers for Hyde Park Winter Wonderland last week told RideRater that they are planning on going ahead with this year’s event, with admission policy changes expected.
