London attractions closing early due to riots

The London Eye is closing at 8pm tonight, 90 minutes earlier than usual for the time of year

Merlin attractions in London will close early on Tuesday after three nights of rioting and robbery in the capital.

The London Eye will close at 8pm, some 90 minutes earlier than usual. Madame Tussauds will stay open until 6pm, an hour earlier than the usual last admission of 7pm during August.

Both attractions state on their Facebook pages that the decision has been taken for “the safety of our guests and staff travelling home tonight.”

The Sea Life London Aquarium and London Dungeon have said they will be opening as normal, with last admissions remaining 7pm.

London has been rocked by outbreaks of violence since Saturday evening and the disturbances have received worldwide media attention.

A hoax image of the London Eye on fire has been circulating on the internet after being posted on Twitter in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
