Family Attraction Expo ‘brilliant place’ for enthusiasts

National Exhibition Centre (NEC) Birmingham

The Family Attraction Expo has been described as a “brilliant place” for theme park enthusiasts to attend, as it gears up for its fifth event.

It is the UK’s largest free trade show for the attraction, tourism and leisure industry.

Businesses associated with the theme park, museum, zoo and other attractions will be represented at the event on 6 and 7 November.

RideRater spoke to event director Oliver Hayes, and asked why a theme park enthusiast should attend the event, to which admission is free.

“We have the UK’s leading exhibitors and visitors from the UK’s best theme parks,” he said.

“Even if you’re not involved in the business side of the industry and are just visiting as an enthusiast, then it’s a brilliant place to come.

“[You can] see the new and exciting trends within the industry including brand new product launches, exclusive seminars from the likes of Merlin Entertainments and exclusive insight opportunities to talk with industry experts which normally costs hundreds of pounds to attend.”

‘Public still want escapism’

Birmingham’s NEC is again hosting the Expo, as it has since the event’s foundation.

“90% of the UK public can get to the NEC in three hours or under,” Oliver says.

“It also has brilliant transport links for our exhibitors and visitors coming from various other parts of the world.”

The Expo has grown by 25% this year, and Oliver says that despite “some uncertainty with Brexit”, the British public still want escapism in the form of family attractions.
