Hull Fair: Woman seriously injured in ride fall

Hull Fair

A woman has been seriously injured after falling from a ride at Hull Fair on Monday evening.

The Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) said that a woman was transferred to Hull Royal Infirmary with ‘multiple and serious injuries’.

The Hull Live website quoted the YAS as saying a teenage boy suffered minor injuries when the woman was thrown toward another ride, which is understood to be ‘The Sizzler’.

The incident occurred at approximately 7pm, and reportedly involved the woman being ejected from the AirMaxx 360 spinning flat ride.

Both rides have been closed as investigative work takes place.

‘Fell from ride’

Humberside Police’s chief inspector Paul Kirby said: “A woman has sadly been seriously injured this evening at Hull Fair and taken to hospital by ambulance.

“We do not believe her injuries are life threatening or life changing. Her family are aware.”

A police statement said: “It’s believed she fell from one ride onto the base of a nearby ride and injured herself.

“It also appears a teenager who was on the ground also received minor injuries.”

Showmen’s Guild chairman Gary leach said: “The police, ambulance, and health and safety are all liaising. No one knows really what has happened. We are getting all different stories.

“All we can hope is the girl is not injured too badly. Our thoughts are with anyone who has been injured.”

Humberside Police are calling for witnesses to come forward with their account of the incident, quoting log 514 of 7/10/2019.

The fair remains in Hull until Saturday, before continuing its travels around Europe.
