The Scottish Sea Life Sanctuary in Oban is to close after 39 years, operator Merlin Entertainments has announced.
It will close on 31 October, and all of the animals will be relocated to Merlin’s other Sea Life Centres around the UK.
In a statement, the company said: “Sadly visitor numbers to the attraction have been in decline.
“After comprehensively reviewing every possible option, there isn’t a viable way to sustain the significant investment that is required in order to keep the sanctuary open.”
Merlin described the decision as “enormously tough” but that it had been reached with “the utmost consideration”.
