Pleasure Beach plans Mack rollercoaster for 2018

Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Blackpool Pleasure Beach will open a launched rollercoaster from German manufacturers Mack Rides in 2018, Ride Rater understands.

Its custom layout includes two launched sections and will feature three track inversions in the form of an inclined loop, zero-g roll and a twisted immelmann.

It will closely interact with the park’s densely-packed rides, extending across the former Tom Sawyer lake and Steeplechase rollercoaster, passing through the Big One ride’s lift hill supports.

The new ride – which has been delayed by one year compared with original plans – was dubbed ‘Project 2017’ in limited marketing material seen at the park last year.

Although the Pleasure Beach has yet to comment on the nature of its 2018 addition, construction is expected to begin later this season.

In an interview last year, deputy managing director Nick Thompson said that the project would “hopefully be one of the most exciting rides in the world”, adding that it would take 18 months to build.
