Penguins: Ice Adventure, the new attraction at the Sea Life London Aquarium, has opened to the public today.
An Antarctic climate has been recreated in a new area within the aquarium, which is situated adjacent to the London Eye.
Gentoo panguins will be the star attraction in the new display, but they will joined by other creatures such is giant spider crabs.
General manager Toby Forer said: “This is really very different to a traditional zoo setting and our intention is to essentially recreate a taste of the Antarctic in the heart of the city.”
The British Antarctic Survey has been involved in the project, offering their expertise and advice, as well as donating media and equipement from one of its research stations on the continent.
