Alton Towers’ latest rollercoaster The Smiler has been attracting queues in excess of three hours since it opened on Friday.
A queue time of 180 minutes was advised during the afternoon today, which is the first term-time weekday following the break last week.
The ride’s delayed opening – originally scheduled to be 16 March – has contributed to increased interest during a spell of fine weather.
Observed throughputs of the ride so far have suggested that it is processing fewer than 1,000 people per hour, with the maximum theoretical capacity not currently known.
