A large security and police presence was at Alton Towers on Easter Sunday, following antisocial behaviour on the day in recent years.
Metal-detecting screens were present at the theme park’s entrance turnstiles, and a large number of security and police officers were present at the resort.
One guest posted on the Alton Towers Facebook page that staff appeared “on edge” and police were “struggling to keep order”.
An evacuation of the Sanctuary scare maze occurred following an unspecified disturbance, although reports suggest an assault on an actor took place. It is operating as normal today.
