Merlin Entertainments has announced the ending of its half-price annual pass offer more than a week earlier than indicated in a previous announcement.
Yesterday, the company announced via its annual pass Facebook page that the offer was to end at the close of business on Monday.
The offer – during which standard passes have been available to purchase for £78 – was previously stated as being available available until 31 January.
“We can confirm the Merlin Annual Pass sale will be available until the 31st January 2012,” a Facebook posting said on 5 January.
The move to end the 50% discount eight days early has caused a considerable backlash from potential customers on the company’s Facebook page.
Merlin have responded to the complaints by saying that the sale price will be honoured if would-be customers e-mail the company and then take a copy of the response to the attractions before the end of January.
It is widely suspected that the offer has been withdrawn early following a high uptake of passes, particularly in London.
