The British Travel Awards have named Alton Towers as ‘Best UK Theme Park’ following its 2011 poll of over 70,000 members of the public.
In second place – receiving a silver award – was Legoland Windsor. Thorpe Park in Surrey was awarded bronze.
The London Eye also won bronze in the category of ‘Best UK Leisure Attraction.’
The result represents a quartet of awards for Merlin Entertainments, who operate all of the attractions.
