Five of Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s historic rides have received Grade II listed status, encouraging their preservation.
The Grand National, Big Dipper and Zipper Dipper rollercoasters were all classified by Historic England on 19 April.
The Flying Machines ride and the now closed Noah’s Ark attraction have also received Grade II status.
The Grade II category is the most common in England, and is defined as a structure of ‘special interest’.
In order for the status to be retained, buildings require planning consent before any changes are be made.
Following an application from an enthusiast, it has emerged that the Pleasure Beach’s Wild Mouse ride was rejected for listing due to significant modification, and non-original design.
