Legoland plans ‘Haunted House’ drop ride

ABD drop towerLegoland Windsor has submitted a planning application for a ‘Haunted House’-themed enclosed drop ride.

The proposed attraction would be located south west of the Atlantis aquarium ride, adjacent to the Driving and Boating School attractions.

The Swiss manufacturer’s ABC Rides are expected to provide the drop ride, which would be similar to that employed by Merlin Entertainments at its Dungeon attractions, as well as Nemesis Sub-Terra at Alton Towers.

The height of the ride’s drop will be 10 metres, which is 4 metres higher than the models operated at the Blackpool and Edinburgh Dungeons, as well as Alton Towers.

An outside queue line featuring ‘graveyard’, ‘swamp’ and ‘spider’s web’ areas is mentioned in the planning application, which was submitted on 28 April this year.

The 3,205 square metre site plans are expected to be approved by the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, as they fall within a pre-approved Major Development Site’s (MDS) boundaries.

If approved, the plans are expected to form Legoland’s major new addition for 2015, opening in March next year.
